With its increasing population and the fast growing cultural life, Diyarbakır requires an alternative venue for cinema. Diyarbakır European Cinema (DEC) has started off to address that demand.Diyarbakır's population, which is over 1 million mostly consists of young people and children. Dicle University with 16 thousand students is also among the target audiences of DEC.
In September the first screening was performed with the participation of European Union enlargement commissioner Mr. Günther Verheugen
DEC with 1 cinema theaters and 110 seats is ready to welcome audiences on the second floor of Galeria Shopping Mall. 35-mm projection system and stereo sound system facilities are available. DEC will screen mostly the selected films of European Cinema, Turkish Cinema and World Cinema.
Diyarbakır Cinema Club (DCC), which has been active for the last 2 years, will perform activities such as discussions, workshops and training for documentaries. The technical and organisational infrastructure for the cultural program of DEC has been prepared by the activities that Diyarbakır Art Center has been carrying out for the last two years.
Aside from the many foundations and institutions, European Culture Offices, İstanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts, Association of Documentary Filmmakers, Bilgi University took place actively in the Cinema activities.
The pricing policy of DEC will be to keep the ticket prices lower than commercial cinemas, so that it would be possible for young viewers to watch films of good quality.

Tickets: 3 YTL for students / 4 YTL for general admission
First screening: 12:00 3 YTL for all
